Revised Gold Seal Accreditation Guidelines

Revised accreditation guidelines
Effective June 1, 2024

1. Only Gold Seal accredited courses will be accepted for GSC and P.GSC applications. Safety training is exempt from this rule and will be accepted based on the number of hours and provider, subject to approval by the Gold Seal team.

2. The credit value for all accredited courses will be one credit per three hours of training up to a maximum of 10 credits per course.

3. The Tradesperson qualification is now worth 25 credits under formal education.

4. The Foreperson designation will now require 100 credits.

Next steps for Gold Seal applicants

•To ensure a smooth transition, we are offering current interns the opportunity to submit any previous non-accredited course certificates to count towards the GSC application by December 31 in the current process (every six hours of training = one credit). If a certificate is not submitted before the deadline, non-accredited courses will not count, and they must follow the new guidelines (Gold Seal accredited courses only, every three hours of training = one credit). Note that any new training taken after June 1 must be Gold Seal accredited to count towards  GSC application.

•New enrollments as of June 1, 2024, will require Gold Seal accredited courses only.

•All existing valid course accreditations from individual course providers and institutions will automatically be revised to reflect the new credit value (one credit per three hours of training).
