BLUprint is a transformative initiative led by TELUS Spark Science Centre, with proud support from the CCA Education Fund as the founding sponsor.
BLUprint is designed to inspire and equip young minds with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the fields of construction, technology, and beyond. Through this program, we aim to foster creativity, critical thinking, and hands-on learning experiences that will shape the future of Calgary’s construction workforce.
BLUprint offers a comprehensive suite of interactive workshops, events, and educational resources tailored to inspire the next generation of innovators. The initiative is structured into two phases, each designed to engage and educate different age groups through dynamic, interactive activities:
Phase 1: Interactive Tools-Based Learning (Summer/Fall 2024)
- Little Builders Zone: Future builders under 8 years, can hone their fine motor skills.
- Carpentry Corner: Supervised play with real tools in a dedicated outdoor space.
- Mobile Carts: Plumbing Problems, Spark Switch: Electricity Basics, and more.
Phase 2: Immersive Indoor Trade Exploration (Winter 2024)
- Virtual Reality Zone: Skilled trades job simulation games.
- Woodworking Workshop: Hands-on carpentry and plumbing activities.
- Enhanced Exhibits: Permanent installations like Plumbing Problems: Permanent Edition.
BLUprint is more than just an educational program; it’s a cornerstone for building a stronger, more innovative construction workforce. By empowering young people with practical skills and knowledge, we are addressing the skills gap and preparing a workforce that is ready to lead in the construction and technology sectors.
