Busy Week for CCA!
Last week was a busy week for CCA! Below are highlights from our experience at the BUILDEX Alberta Tradeshow and Future in Trades and Technologies event this year! It was an absolute honour to be part of such an inspiring event dedicated to the construction and design industry. Here’s a glimpse of what we’ve been up to:
BUILDEX Leaders Breakfast with Keynote Clint Malarchuk: We welcomed Clint Malarchuk for a discussion on mental health and awareness. Clint shared with us his own personal journey and struggles with mental health. Clint’s willingness to open up about such a deeply personal topic is both commendable and transformative. By sharing his experiences, it has not only demonstrated great courage, but has also provided a source of hope and inspiration to all of us in the audience. Clint’s story serves as a powerful reminder that resilience, determination, and seeking help can lead to personal growth and success. We are truly grateful for Clint’s vulnerability and the valuable insights he left with us, which will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on all of our lives. This keynote brought into sharp focus the importance of acknowledging, addressing, and supporting mental health issues for the well-being of not just individuals, but our entire community.
Working Together to Address the Skilled-Labour Shortage: At this year’s BUILDEX tradeshow, the Calgary Construction Association joined forces with Trade Winds to Success, Momentum and Women Building Future to run the Workforce Solutions Centre. Our commitment to addressing the workforce challenges facing our industry has never been stronger. Together, we’re working to address challenges and create opportunities and solutions to build the skilled and resilient workforce of the future.
Panel Discussion with Minister Matt Jones: It was an honour to host a thought-provoking panel discussion with industry leaders on the labour shortage. Kicked off by the Alberta Minister of Jobs, Economy, and Trade, Minister Matt Jones, together we discussed the pivotal role of the construction industry in Alberta’s economic growth and development.
Future in Trades and Technologies Event: Bill Black also spoke on a panel at the Future in Trades and Technologies show, which was put on to expose and entice students to enter the skilled trades. The event offered interactive exhibits, technical demonstrations and keynote speeches designed to foster professional growth, build connections and expand knowledge. This event severed as a platform to discover new opportunities in trades and technologies.
We are grateful to all the attendees, exhibitors, and partners who made these events a huge success. Let’s continue working together to shape the future of construction in Calgary and beyond.
Stay tuned for more updates, innovative projects, and collaborations from your Calgary Construction Association. Together, we build a brighter future!
