Calgary Construction Association Welcomes Historic Investment into Calgary’s Arts Infrastructure by Government of Alberta
The Calgary Construction Association welcomes today’s announcement by the Government of Alberta, announcing $103 million in funding over the next seven years towards the transformation of Arts Commons and Olympic Plaza. This investment marks a significant milestone in the enhancement of Calgary’s cultural and recreational infrastructure, while creating hundreds of construction jobs.
“As an Association dedicated to advancing excellence in construction, we recognize the importance of robust public spaces and cultural amenities in fostering vibrant communities,” said Bill Black, President of the Calgary Construction Association. “The revitalization of Arts Commons and Olympic Plaza promises to enrich the cultural fabric of our Calgary, providing residents and visitors alike with enhanced facilities for artistic expression, performance, and recreation.”
Moreover, this funding allocation underscores the Government of Alberta’s commitment to supporting the growth and development of Calgary’s cultural sector, a commitment that aligns with our association’s values of fostering sustainable and inclusive urban environments. The Association notes that the Government of Alberta has invested over $400 million in the past year into developing critical infrastructure and vibrancy in Calgary’s downtown.
The Calgary Construction Association looks forward to contributing to these transformative projects, leveraging our expertise and dedication to quality craftsmanship to ensure their successful realization. We commend the Government of Alberta for its visionary investment in Calgary’s cultural infrastructure and stand ready to collaborate in bringing these projects to fruition.
