The CANA Mortenson team is extremely proud and honored to be selected to deliver the new Event Centre in Calgary.

Since 2012, CANA and Mortenson have worked jointly in anticipation of this project. They have assembled the very best team of experts and dedicated construction professionals for the job.

Locally owned and operated by the Simpson family and headquartered in Calgary, CANA is known for delivering unique projects in Alberta.

CANA built the original Saddledome in 1983, renovated it in 1995, and restored it in record time after the “Come Hell or High Water” flood in 2013. The Event Centre has a personal connection for CANA and the Simpson family.

CANA has a proud history with the key stakeholders of this project. They have delivered numerous projects for The City of Calgary, including the West LRT Expansion, TELUS Convention Centre, and the National Music Centre, an iconic venue in Calgary’s East Village.

In addition to the work on the existing Saddledome, CANA’s history with the Calgary Flames includes delivering the Calgary Flames Community Arenas and being a long time supporter of the Calgary Flames Foundation.

Mortenson is the top sports builder in North America and brings in-depth knowledge and current experience of event facilities. Mortenson’s resume includes 200 sports venues with an aggregate value of $14 Billion. Project experience includes the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, the Chase Center in San Francisco, Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, and the Seattle Center Arena.

Mortenson is passionate about event spaces and is excited to work with CANA to deliver a catalytic city building project as part of the Rivers District area.
