Work to begin on the foundation for Calgary’s 52 Street SE BRT conversion

via LiveWire Calgary by Darren Krause It’s one of Calgary’s longest stretches of roadway and it’s about to get some upgrades. No. It’s not Deerfoot. It serves as many as 53,000 cars daily in one southern section. In the far northeast, there’s a stretch that sees 43,000 vehicles daily. Growth along this route has pushed daily traffic numbers up roughly 100 per cent since 2005. It’s 52 Street. It starts just south of Seton Blvd SE and spans nearly 25 kilometres to the north where it turns into Falconridge Boulevard in the northeast. You could technically include that part to...

Saskatchewan tendering provisions ‘building walls’ around the province: MHCA president

via Journal of Commerce ConstructConnect by Grant Cameron Contractors in Manitoba maintain that the Government of Saskatchewan is including provisions in tender documents that make it difficult for out-of-province contractors to bid on construction projects. “Alberta and Manitoba have level playing fields,” says Chris Lorenc, president of the Manitoba Heavy Construction Association. “That, sadly, is not the case in Saskatchewan. Revisions to ACA Forms A & B to Align with CCDC 2 – 2020 Stipulated Price Contract

CCDC 2, stipulated sum contract between owner and general contractor has been revised and is available for use December 2020. A review of ACA Form A (agreement between general contractor and subcontractor) and ACA Form B (agreement between subcontractor and subsubcontractor) was undertaken to ensure alignment with CCDC 2 – 2020. The review concluded that while CCDC 2 – 2020 introduces the Ready-for-Takeover provision, rather than introducing these provisions in Forms A and B, subcontractors need to comply with flow-down provisions from the Prime CCDC2 contract (including Supplementary Conditions).
